Working with Larger Furniture Pieces
Home Furniture Series
This project explores ceramics beyond its typical role as decorative or small-scale objects, shifting it into the scale of home furniture. The focus here is on creating larger, wheel-thrown pieces that can exist as part of everyday living.
Working at this scale introduces both technical and conceptual challenges. Each object must balance structural function with a considered aesthetic, while remaining true to the processes of making. The wheel-throwing method, often associated with smaller forms, is pushed here to test its limits in size, stability and repetition.
Ceramic furniture isn’t a conventional approach, and that tension is central to the project. These pieces sit somewhere between object and utility, questioning how ceramics can be used and understood within a domestic context while remaining true to the logic and language of my practice.
